Mathematics Do You Know Contest for Grades 6-10 - 2018


According to the letter dated 2018/07/09, the above contest has been arranged on 2018/07/14 @ P/Fathima BMV, Puttalam, starting at 9.00 am and letters have been sent to selected schools. 

A written test will be conducted with separate papers for each grades in both medium and it will be of one-hour duration. The question papers will be based on the syllabus covering first and second terms of relevant grades. 

Through above test, 2 students per grade will be selected in grades 6-8 representing junior level and 3 students per grade in grades 9 & 10 representing senior level. Those selected students will be sent for provincial level competition to be held on coming days.

Progress Review Meeting of Maths Teachers - 2018

According to the letter dated 2018.06.01, the first meeting of Anamaduwa/Pallama divisional maths teachers' meeting was held in Anamaduwa TC on 2018.06.11 from 8.30AM. The progress of schools and their results increasing programs, over view of 2017 O/L maths paper were discussed. The following materials were used for informing teachers.(PPT-Main, Div-Ana)

Maths teacher capacity building program for newly appointed and low performing school teachers


According to the letter dated 2018/05/02 the above program has been conducted separately for both mediums. Sinhala medium program was held in P/St.Andrew's MV on 2018.05.11. The program started from 8.30am onwards. As the program was arranged for all the Sinhala medium teachers in our zone, altogether fifty eight teachers and teacher resource persons participated.


The program was mainly focused on sharing knowledge and experience by senior teachers for newly appointed ones and some methodologies followed by Singaporean teachers were also shared. Explanation on remedial teaching through ELC and ELC modules with various materials introduced by NIE were also discussed with newly appointed teachers.

Treasure hunting and other activity based teaching methods were also presented with grouping teachers. The structure of question paper was also explained with the presentation.

While Tamil medium is scheduled on 2018.05.14 in P/Zahira NS from 8.30 AM to 4.00 PM. Our experienced mathematics teachers have been invited here to share their knowledge and experience with their junior teachers so that junior ones can perform well in the upcoming general exams. 
Grade 6 (catagory-I) mathematics Olympiad contest - 2018

According to the letter dated 2018.04.25, grade 6 mathematics Olympiad test for selecting students for the provincial pool was held zonal-wide on 2018.05.03. Papers (S/T) were sent to relevant divisions. It is expected that final results must be sent to zonal office on or before 2018.05. If you have not yet received marking scheme, please click here to download it. Only 100 top scorers in zonal-wise results will be produced for provincial Olympiad pool for this year of 2018.

ELC practice papers for grade 11 students


ELC practice papers will be issued to schools for uplifting OL maths results. They can be downloaded here(S & T).
Maths Diagnostic test for grades 6 & 8

To diagnose the maths achievement level of grade 6 (S & T) and 8 (S & T), the above said test will be held on 26th(Thursday) of this April, 2018. Papers will be sent to divisions on 25th. 
Maths Olympiad-2018 

Selection test for choosing members for provincial maths Olympiad pool separately for category II and III was held on 2018.04.08 in Ku/Welagedara MV. 10 out of 50 students(click here for their list) representing our zone have been selected for the national level competition to be held in Ananda College, Maradana, Colombo-10 on 28th of this April. The relevant documents such as index number list(cat II,III), bio data form and principals' consent forms have been sent to relevant students.
